Over the course of the past few months, we have been constantly visiting Oyster River Middle School to help with their STEM programs. During the summer, we served as instructors in the REACH Summer Programs, teaching kids about Arduino, Drones, 3D Printing, and Rockets. In the last few weeks, members have been assisting the school with their robotics program.
Last week, we brought our robot to show the kids our design process and some cool mechanisms we used. They even got to drive it around, and all of them loved the presentation! Although ORMS does VEX Robotics due to cost reasons, the kids were able to learn a lot from our robot design. We further helped them with building and programming their robots! We hope that these interactions, especially the robot demonstration, will inspire the students to want to join the Oyster River High School’s FIRST Robotics Competition team in the future!
