Our team is divided into three subgroups: Mechanical, Programming, and Community Outreach. You are more than welcome to apply for multiple subgroups!
The Mechanical Subgroup is in charge of the design, build, and development of the robot. Making extensive use of CAD softwares and custom manufacturing processes to produce custom parts from scratch, this subgroup is also tasked with the build of the robot in a limited timeframe. To maximize performance, robot development continues throughout the season, with design changes and refinements happening on a weekly basis.
The Programming Subgroup is responsible for the software development of the robot. Primarily using Java, this subgroup aims to increase the robot’s performance in both autonomous and tele-operated periods. Last season’s highlights include creating a custom vision program to accurately identify the location of game elements and pioneering an Odometry system, the real-time tracking of the robot’s position and heading.
The Community Outreach Committee is responsible for the business, marketing, and community engagement aspects of our team. Members of this committee work to increase our team presence and the impact we have on the world. Some tasks include organizing and hosting large events, maintaining a strong media presence, managing sponsorships and funding, designing team logos and graphics, and forming connections with professionals in the STEM field.
